Messe Düsseldorf taps into the Indian foundry market: ‘The Bright World of Metals’ partners with Inter Foundry 2026
Messe Düsseldorf is entering the Indian foundry market with its world-leading trade fairs GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST – collectively known as “The Bright World of Metals” – and has signed a groundbreaking cooperation agreement with Inter Foundry, the international trade fair for the ferrous and non-ferrous foundry industry in India. Running in parallel is Inter DieCast, which focuses on die-casting technologies, products and, in particular, the aluminium sector. The next edition of both trade fairs will take place from 10 to 12 September 2026 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.
With this move, Messe Düsseldorf is underlining its international growth strategy and further expanding its role as the leading platform for the global metal and foundry industry. India is the world’s third-largest foundry producer and, at around 6 to 7 per cent annually, boasts the highest GDP growth rate among the major industrialised nations (source: WFO Global Foundry Report 2024). Consequently, demand for modern investment in foundry equipment, automation and environmental technologies is rising sharply. Furthermore, Coimbatore is regarded as one of India’s leading production centres, with more than 600 foundries and numerous component manufacturers. The Indian market therefore offers ideal conditions for international companies in the metal industry. It is growing dynamically, particularly in the field of aluminium casting and light metals, for which there is strong demand from the automotive and energy sectors.
Inter Foundry positions itself as the central international platform for the foundry industry, with a particular focus on the South Asian markets. Held every two years, it brings together the entire value chain – from foundries and suppliers to companies specialising in automation, digitalisation and material innovations.
As part of the partnership with Inter Foundry 2026, which is held under the banner ‘powered by The Bright World of Metals and Messe Düsseldorf’, Messe Düsseldorf is contributing its international sales expertise and decades of experience in organising leading trade fairs. This will give Inter Foundry even greater international visibility in future and establish it as a key platform for entering the Indian market. Through the successful staging of METEC, wire and Tube India, the company has already impressively demonstrated how leading international trade fairs can be further developed within the Indian market.
“India is one of the most dynamic growth markets for the international foundry industry. With Inter Foundry, we are offering our partners and exhibitors at The Bright World of Metals an excellent platform to tap into new business opportunities and forge valuable contacts. For us, this collaboration also marks the first step towards steadily expanding our involvement in the Indian foundry market and establishing our trade fair business there in the long term,” explains Malte Seifert, Director of Metals & Autonomous Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf.
ast edition of Inter Foundry in 2024 attracted 220 exhibitors and around 8,000 trade visitors. Over 88 per cent of exhibitors have already confirmed their participation in the upcoming event – a clear indication of the trade fair’s importance. Across 13,500 square metres, companies showcased the latest technologies, materials and services, using the event as a catalyst for innovation and as a platform for business development and exchange.
“India’s rapid economic growth offers enormous opportunities for the global foundry industry. With rising industrial demand and infrastructure development, the country is emerging as a key market for innovation, investment and collaboration. Our partnership with The Bright World of Metals strengthens Inter Foundry’s position as a leading platform that brings together Indian and international players. This collaboration opens the door for foreign companies to tap into the dynamic Indian market and succeed there,” says Ashwani Pande, CEO of VA Exhibitions Pvt Ltd.
Over 250 exhibitors and more than 10,000 trade visitors are expected to attend Inter Foundry 2026 – powered by GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST – in Coimbatore. The exhibition will expand by around 40 per cent to 18,000 square metres and will be accompanied by specialist seminars, panel discussions and a ‘Castings Zone’, which will showcase innovations and trends in particular.
