Düsseldorf/Mexico City, 18 July 2024 – From 16 to 18 October 2024, GIFA Mexico will be the leading foundry trade fair for the Mexican and Latin American markets. The inaugural GIFA Mexico, which forms part of Düsseldorf’s “The Bright World of Metals” portfolio, will showcase technological innovations and sustainable solutions at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City, setting trends for the international foundry industry. An ideal location: Mexico’s automotive industry is booming.

The structural shift away from the internal combustion engine towards electric mobility, as well as the increasing expansion of the Chinese automotive industry – which has identified Latin America as a production and expansion market – are fuelling an investment race in the region. The main beneficiaries of this development are established manufacturing hubs such as Mexico, one of Latin America’s leading automotive manufacturing nations. Mexico has decades of experience in vehicle production and also benefits from its proximity to the ‘lithium triangle’ in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. The region is believed to hold around two-thirds of the world’s lithium reserves, which are of central importance for the production of electric car batteries. With its large domestic market and geographical proximity to the USA, the country is an ideal production location for many international car manufacturers and suppliers.

Mexico City as the ideal venue for GIFA Mexico

“Mexico City, home to the established foundry trade fair FUNDIEXPO, is therefore the ideal venue for GIFA Mexico,” explains Malte Seifert, Director of Metals, Energy & Autonomous Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf. “This is an important market for German and international companies; this is where the industry’s innovation drivers are based. We are delighted that, with our long-standing expertise as a global partner to the industry, we can help to further enhance the event’s international character and make it easier for European firms to enter the market.”

The Mexican edition of GIFA – which has been the world’s leading trade fair for the foundry industry in Düsseldorf since 1956 – is designed in particular to offer German and European companies the opportunity to showcase their cutting-edge technologies and international capabilities on the Latin American market and to establish business contacts.

International industry leaders with many highlights on board

The current registration figures are correspondingly positive: Exhibitors at GIFA Mexico and FUNDIEXPO include many major international players such as ASK Chemicals, Bühler, Electrotherm, General Kinematics, Haitian, MAGMA, Norican Group, Oskar Frech, Sinto Group, Tinker Omega, Vesuvius Foseco and Yizumi. Further companies from Germany, India, Turkey, Italy, Spain and China have already confirmed their participation. National pavilions from China, Italy and Spain will be represented in the exhibition halls.

GIFA Mexico is being organised in cooperation with its partner, the Mexican Foundry Society, A.C. (Sociedad Mexicana de Fundidores, A.C./ SMFAC) as part of the established Mexican trade fair FUNDIEXPO, showcasing new machinery, plant, materials, technologies and solutions for the foundry industry.

Supporting programme for a forward-looking trade fair experience

Alongside the trade fair, visitors to GIFA Mexico and FUNDIEXPO can learn about future trends in the foundry sector through 90 presentations. The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important in Mexico, as the conference programme shows. Another highlight of the programme is the Global Metallurgy & Foundry Summit, at which fifteen international foundry associations from Asia, Europe and the Americas will present their solutions for the industry. Seminars also offer industry professionals valuable insights and opportunities for professional development. The programme can be found at: https://fundiexpo.mx/congreso/
