Construction of the CSP® Nexus plant at JSW STEEL (Dolvi Works).

The Indian company JSW STEEL has installed a CSP® Nexus from SMS. The continuous casting and rolling mill enables the production of bespoke solutions tailored to customers’ individual requirements.

The range of hot-rolled strip dimensions that can be produced for plate products extends up to a width of 2,600 millimetres. For the first time, both hot-rolled strip and sheet can be produced in these dimensions on a single line. This means maximum flexibility. The CSP® Nexus not only achieves maximum productivity but also sets new standards in terms of efficiency and the reduction of carbon emissions.
The thickness range for the hot-rolled strip produced, from 2.0 to 32.0 millimetres, is exceptionally wide and offers JSW STEEL a unique opportunity to tap into new markets at competitive costs, particularly in the production of ‘green’ sheet.
The CSP® Nexus line for JSW is the third of its kind and, with an annual capacity of four million tonnes, is the most productive and powerful in the world. With its CSP® Nexus line, SMS sees itself as a pioneer in the field of thin-strip technology. The plant has set new standards in the steel industry and is set to revolutionise the market in the long term. SMS will construct the plant at the Dolvi site on the west coast of the Indian state of Maharashtra and commission it in 2026.
