Heat treatment

Increased mechanical properties of castings are reached by means of heat treatment. The heat treatment is a process of altering material properties by means of heating. The temperature must have exactly specified and controlled value and time path. The purpose of the heat treatment of the aluminum alloys is to improve the mechanical properties and to eliminate the inner stress in the casting. The less frequent purpose of the heat treatment is stabilization of the casting dimensions.

Heat treatment procedure:
  1. Annealing
  2. Quenching
  3. Hardening

Apart from heat treatment of our products we are offering this operation also to external companies as a separate service. The heat treatment process is certified according to ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004.

Shot blasting by CrNi media

Shot blasting means surface treatment prior to its finishing. Shot blasting mechanically removes small excesses of material, corrosion and other impurities thus creating also a suitable surface for anchoring of coating systems. The shot blasting has a decisive influence on adherence of the protective layer and indirectly on its lifetime.

Shot blasting influences the surface quality in the following way:
  • mechanical removal of the top layer of material that is contaminated, affected by corrosion
  • surface roughing – it creates so called anchoring profile that prevents surface treatments such as coating from peel-off.

Tumbling

Tumbling is a batch surface pre-treatment at which friction between the casting and tumbling media occurs due to vibration motion in the tumbling trough. A liquid with the degreasing agent is supplied into the trough. Material, size and shape of the tumbling media depends on the casting and requirements on the final surface quality. The result is more homogeneous surface quality. Tumbling decreases the surface roughness by 50 % of the original value.

FINALCAST – production of castings from aluminium alloys

We are proud to be part of the aluminium production history in Slovakia.
We continue in long-term tradition of aluminum castings production, that began in 1967, when the first casting was produced. Since 2005, our castings have been traded under FINALCAST trademark and since 2012 also under the name of independent FINALCAST, s.r.o., company.
