Transporting molten steel and slag is one of the most difficult and dangerous assignments in a steel plant. The use of task-specific transport containers requires individual concepts for the pick-up device on the vehicle as well as the handling. Slag pot weights up to 160 t and molten steel ladles up to 500 t are safely and reliably handled with vehicles from the TII Group. Speeds of up to 35 km/h and gradients up to 15.0 % can easily be mastered depending on the individual concept. Depending on the payload, drive units up to 548 hp are available to the customer.
In order to ensure unrestricted transportation in the metallurgy industry of up to 200 t of Semi-finished or finished products, such as slabs, coils, billets, sheet metal or steel profiles, transporters from the TII Group provide effective solutions. The transport of semi-finished and finished products takes place for the most part using palletized goods. For guaranteeing high turnover rates, high speeds must be realized when vehicles are both loaded and unloaded. The hydrostatic drive – developed by the TII Group – has been installed in the vast majority of these transporters and easily ensures that the required speeds of up to 25 km/h in loaded and up to 45 km/h in unloaded condition respectively are achieved. For payloads up to 200 t, SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG Industrial Lift Transporters with their 15“ bogies have become leading players in the industry due, above all, to their performance, reliability and long service life.This transport concept features 2- to 8-axle line versions with payloads of 50 t up to 200 t. For payloads morethan 160 t, transporters with 20“ bogies are frequently used (as already found in the Scrap Container Transporters).Due to the larger-sized wheels, their off-road capabilities increase.
For use in metallurgical plants, the TII Group has developed a special vehicle for the transportation of slabs. The slabs can be picked up directly from the ground to be re-positioned and stacked at the designated unloading site. This process is realized due to the height-adjustable grippers that are available in different versions. Cold as well as hot slabs can be transported.
