ASCOJET dry ice blasting is virtually non-abrasive. This means that in comparison to traditional blasting methods with sand or glass beads, the cleaned surfaces are not damaged or altered. Therefore, the edges of ingots moulds (especially in closing areas), for example, will not be rounded out. Any arising of fins will therefore be avoided. Tool wear is reduced and product quality increased.
ASCOJET dry ice blasting has the advantage that it can be applied directly onto the moulds/plants without disassembling. This saves you valuable time. Even hot moulds can be cleaned on-line. ASCOJET dry ice blasting has minimal effect on mould temperature allowing virtually continuous production. This way ASCOJET dry ice blasting can easily be applied regularly and integrated in the daily working process, thus supporting quality assurance and process reliability.
No secondary waste:
The blasting material, dry ice (100% CO2), turns to gas as soon as it hits the surface. Thus, there is no blasting material or chemical substances to be disposed of. On top of that, work conditions are improved because dry ice blasting does not charge the staff with additional dust contrary to sand or granular blasting.
As this blasting system leaves a dry surface, there is no danger of corrosion or for electrical components to be damaged.
