WS Wärmeprozesstechnik

The American branch of WS was founded in 1997 in Elyria, Ohio. The Cleveland metro area lies in the heart of the steel industry, automotive industry, heat treaters and furnace manufacturers. The activities of WS Inc. are technical sales, service, spare parts stocking and customizing burners according to relevant standards. From January 2011, WS Inc operates from a new location nearby Lorain.

Since our formation in the year 1982 (after the second oil crisis) we claim to be leaders in the field of combustion research and burner development. A fully equipped combustion laboratory with highly motivated personnel should ensure this leading role, also in the future. Besides test furnaces and experimental setups, we can benefit from more than 25 years of experience in using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) models. The research activities are documented by several national and international research projects with many partners from academia and industry. Members of WS published many research papers and reviews and many patents were granted. The most prominent example is flameless oxidation - FLOX® (registered trademark of WS Wärmeprozesstechnik GmbH, Rennigen, Germany), which gained worldwide recognition. Besides combustion research, WS was pioneering the application of new ceramic components in the field of burner and radiant tube technology.
WS is an active member of FOGI (Research Association for Industrial Thermoprocessing Equipment).

Our design engineers not only design our burners but often work in close cooperation with our customers to find the best solution for integrating our burners into their equipement. The design department works closely together with our sales engineers, our laboratory, production and the customer. State of the art 2D - and 3D CAD systems are used. Besides mechanicel aspects, the electrical integration into the control system is also considered. The design departement is also responsible for preparing the documentation and to keep it up to date. This ensures the availability of burner spare parts also after many years in service.

This results in CO₂ savings of around 15%. At the same time, a special combustion process (FLOX®) allows nitrogen oxide emissions to be pushed well below existing limits.
