Our greener aluminium portfolio
Hydro REDUXA is our low-carbon aluminium, produced with renewable energy sources like hydro power. The carbon footprint is 4 kilos of CO2e per kilo aluminium produced, which is less than a quarter of the global average.
Hydro CIRCAL is our premium recycled aluminium offering, containing a minimum of 75% recycled, post-consumer aluminium scrap. By using recycled aluminium, Hydro drastically reduces energy use in the production phase without compromising on quality. Since post-consumer scrap has lived a previous life as a product, we can reduce the carbon footprint to 2.3 kilos of CO2e per kilo of aluminium produced.
Transparency matters
Our low-carbon and recycled products come with a certificate detailing the environmental footprint, from mining to the final metal, including input materials and transportation (Scope 1-3). This information is verified by an independent third party and is traceable down to each individual batch – an honest and transparent way of calculating footprint in contrast to many industry "standards."
