A new sand processing plant for moulding sand was recently put into operation at the foundry LA FONTE ARDENNAISE. After being processed using the abrasion process, the sand is returned to the cycle to be used to produce cores.
It was JML Industrie that installed this processing plant for moulding sand and organised the redistribution of the sand to the various core shooters. "Our involvement also included the extraction and storage of the fine sand as well as its humidification in order to avoid dust turbulence during unloading for transport," JML Industrie management stated.
Comprehensive regeneration package for green sand
"Like this, we offer the complete package for the regeneration of green sand. At the same time, we take control of the material flows generated by this process: Redistribution of the sand, collection, and treatment of the fines", JML Industrie management revealed.
The investment costs for the plant were almost 4 million euros. Up to 11,000 tonnes of sand can be recycled per year, which is equivalent to the volume of 1,000 lorries and leads to an estimated annual saving of 20,000 tonnes of CO2.
JML Industrie, LA FONTE ARDENNAISE and all the other partner companies involved in this project are thus helping to strengthen the circular economy and reduce the carbon footprint.
