The board of directors of professional association VDMA Metallurgy has elected Till Schreiter, CEO at ABP Induction Systems GmbH, as the new chairman with immediate effect.
Schreiter succeeds Dr. Ioannis Ioannidis, who retired from active professional life at the Frech Group towards the end of 2023, and hence also relinquishes his position as head of the professional association. Schreiter, a certified engineer with a diploma in electrical engineering (RWTH Aachen) has been a board member at the professional association for metallurgy – with its specialised departments for foundry machines, equipment of metallurgical plants and rolling mill facilities and thermal processing technology – since its foundation in the year 2017. He will contribute his comprehensive expertise and experience as a managing director in metallurgical plant engineering to guiding the work of the professional association. He professes to have a special interest, together with his colleagues on the board, in strengthening the framework conditions for the global implementation of solutions with which metallurgical machine and plant engineering helps to make proven processes more and more sustainable within metal production and processing. “Our industry can only achieve its full potential and especially the full use of its comprehensive decarbonisation know-how if the framework conditions are right for a strong base of innovative metallurgical system and plant engineering in Germany and Europe. VDMA Metallurgy offers the network and the platform to exert critical cross-company influence on shaping solutions for central challenges along the international value chain of metals.” “Our special thanks go to Dr. Ioannis Ioannidis, who was a member of this professional association since 2004, presided over the then professional association for foundry machines since 2013, and since 2017 with great dedication united the three formerly independent industrial associations for foundry machines, metallurgical plants and rolling mill equipment and thermal process technology to become one single, successful organisation”, adds Schreiter. The professional Metallurgy association is the network and shared platform of metallurgical plant engineering and with the professional departments of foundry machines, metallurgical plants and rolling mill equipment as well as thermal process technology, focuses the interests of its members, who supply plants, machinery, equipment and process technology for the production and processing of metals. The professional association represents about 180 companies who account for about 80 percent of the industry’s turnover. Source: VDMA Metallurgy
