Collaboration in Partnership
Mehmet Atik, owner and managing director, prioritized quality and seamless integration when selecting suppliers. The collaboration with companies such as VHV Anlagenbau GmbH, Eirich Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich GmbH & Co KG, Heinrich Wagner Sinto Maschinenfabrik GmbH, and JOEST group was crucial to the project's success. This longstanding partnership and mutual trust facilitated the development and implementation of innovative solutions.
Project Scope and Execution
The project involved the development and implementation of a state-of-the-art foundry plant designed to meet the growing market demands for larger castings. Close coordination and quick decision-making during team meetings led to project optimizations. Mehmet Atik’s involvement in these meetings ensured immediate resolution and swift implementation of improvement suggestions.
Technical Details and Equipment of the Foundry Hall (350m x 120m)
The foundry's impressive dimensions include a 350-meter-long, 120-meter-wide hall, and a 24-meter-high compact facility in the central processing area. The plant is equipped with the latest technologies, including four Eirich mixers in the Evactherm® system, the HWS 5 and HWS 6 molding lines, and four electric furnaces for melting liquid iron. A significant aspect of the project’s sustainability is the reuse of a large portion of the melted material from scrapped ships.
Although ATIK METAL’s HWS6 does not have the largest flasks in Turkey (2.38 sqm compared to 2.44 sqm), it achieves four times the cycle rate of other facilities with 80 molds per hour.
VHV supplied a variety of equipment for the project, including new sand bunkers, belt conveyors for old and processed sand, as well as plows and dust extraction connections. Among the delivered elements were 76 belt conveyors and a GB1000 deck conveyor. Additionally, VHV provided four polygonal screens, a double molding sand bunker, and a new sand bunker. The largest throughput capacity is 360 tons per hour (300 cubic meters per hour). Noteworthy features include partially reversible discharge belts and the transport of separated metals via compact belt conveyors in VHV K-frames. The new foundry has an annual output capacity of 120,000 tons of castings.
Results and Future Expectations
The successful collaboration of all involved companies has led to a project that meets the highest standards of quality and performance. The new foundry will significantly increase ATIK METAL's production capacity and product range, solidifying its position as a leading provider in the industry. VHV Anlagenbau GmbH expresses its gratitude to Mehmet Atik and his team for the trustful cooperation and this pioneering project.
The successful realization of the ATIK METAL foundry demonstrates the potential and possibilities of close collaboration between clients and suppliers. VHV Anlagenbau GmbH has proven to be a reliable partner even for large-scale projects and will continue to develop innovative solutions and deliver customized systems to meet the ever-changing demands of the industry.
