Heitec AG has expanded its cyber security offering with solutions from the IRMA® product line. The company will thus act as a solution provider in the field of cyber security for production plants in the automation market in the future. IRMA® (Industrial Risk Management Automation) has proven itself for many years in the KRITIS area as well as in the production area. The product is continuously developed to meet the current growing security requirements (incl. KRITIS / IT-SIG 2.0/ NIS-2 directive).
Frank Hampe (site manager of Heitec Neckarsulm) and his team are convinced that IRMA® is a target-oriented tool for the customers of Heitec AG to secure the OT world against attacks from inside and outside. It is also possible to offer a solution for operators of critical infrastructures (KRITIS), which can thereby meet the obligations that will apply from 01.05.2023. The first project in the CRITIS area has already been successfully implemented by employees from Neckarsulm and further requests from the CRITIS area have already been received by Frank Hampe for implementation.
Monitoring, information, analysis
Quick and easy to install, the IRMA® system continuously monitors networks and provides information on cyber-attacks, enabling risk-based analysis and intelligent alerting in the event of detected irregularities or anomalies in network traffic.
Sensitivity to cyber security has been present in the IT sector for a long time. Increasingly, however, the OT sector is also increasingly being targeted by cyber criminals. Frequent attacks are recorded, for example, on production facilities or critical infrastructures such as water, energy, transport, and hospitals. The resulting costs and downtime are usually difficult to estimate in advance, and preventive measures would have resulted in far lower costs. The term OT or operational technology is in the field of production planning and production control (PPC). It includes hardware and software that monitors and controls the performance of physical equipment.
