Georgsmarienhütte GmbH supplies Winning BLW GmbH with 100% Green Power Steel

As the first customer of Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, the precision forge Winning BLW GmbH procures all its steel as Green Power Steel. Green Power is steel from Georgsmarienhütte that is melted and produced exclusively with green electricity. As a result, the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of the steel is reduced by 37 percent (Scope 1-3) and averages just 0.791 metric tons of CO2 equivalent per ton.

Steel delivery with works certificate

With every steel delivery from Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, Winning BLW GmbH also receives the PCF of the order listed in the works certificate supplied. During steel production, 3,000 electronic measuring points independently record over 7,000 different measurement data in production. Data collection is fully automatic and is then assigned to individual orders. The average of the last production orders for the same material is calculated on the basis of the existing regulatory specifications. In this way, Winning BLW GmbH receives its PCF from Georgsmarienhütte GmbH in a granular, detailed and accurate manner. The data collection and the calculation logic are validated by TÜV Süd and are based on the specifications of ISO 14044, ISO 14067 and the Green House Gas Protocol (GHG).
