Steel producer Yantai Walsin Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., with headquarters in the province of Shandong, China has successfully rolled out the first bar on the new RSB® 370++/4. The reducing and sizing block by Kocks is an example of state-of-the-art 3-roll-technology for producing long products and is built for excellent surface quality and tolerances while at the same time minimising the operational cost for the entire rolling mill.
Yantai Walsin is a subsidiary of Walsin Lihwa, a leading Taiwanese producer of specialised steel. The company shares a history of success with Kocks. Already in 1991, the first Kocks reducing and sizing block with an RSB® 370/10 input drive shaft was installed in a rolling mill in Tainan, Taiwan. At the same site, a RSB® 500 Intermediate block and recently an RB 500++/4 followed.
The new Kocks RSB® 370++/4 reducing and sizing block for Yantai Walsin has four stand positions with with three rolls each for ideal deformation behaviour as well as an optimised output of the newly build rolling mill for SBQ products in Yantai, China, in the province Shandong. The RSB® is aligned following 20 stand positions in a H/V position and produces round profiles with diameters of 18 – 100 mm, hexagonal profiles from 18 – 80 mm and preliminary cross-sections for the wire mill line.
Besides the block, Kocks is providing equipment for the workshop and proprietary software solutions. The modern block allows Yantai Walsin to achieve a new level of efficient production. The RSB® is also equipped with a 4D Eagle® measuring device and this is again linked to the Kocks Size Control System (SCS®) which enables adjusting operational parameters in real time. This ensures that process monitoring is transparent and that adjustments can be made as quickly as possible if necessary.
