Ruukki to adjust construction and engineering operations in Finland

Ruukki is to further improve the efficiency of construction operations at Vimpeli, Alajärvi and Peräseinäjoki in Finland and to transfer the manufacture of components for the engineering industry from Peräseinäjoki to other units. The employer-employee negotiations initiated in December last year have now ended at these sites. The negotiations resulted in the loss of 52 jobs, with 22 of the persons affected being subject to various pension arrangements. In addition, new jobs were found elsewhere in Ruukki for 19 persons. When the negotiations were initiated, it was estimated a workforce reduction of a maximum of 100 people was required.
