NEWCAST plans to step “out of line” in future

Trade Fair for Castings to be held every two years in future

Since its debut in 2003 NEWCAST, the International Castings Trade Fair, has boasted an impressive track record. Aimed at building a dedicated platform for engineers, production managers and buyers to gather information on the latest technical developments in components, its concept is unique worldwide and the fair has already become a fixture after just two events. A survey polling this year’s visitors to NEWCAST showed that the vast majority favoured a shorter cycle in sync with the fast pace of innovations occurring in this sector and that most were also interested in solutions beyond casting-based ones. This feeling coincides with general economic trends in the industry as a whole and ties in with assessments from numerous experts in the industry.    

To respond to these altered market requirements Messe Düsseldorf has decided to hold NEWCAST more frequently and to extend its range of products. In agreement with the associations acting as conceptual sponsors, NEWCAST will therefore be held every two years from now on. Every four years the event will be held concurrently with the three technology trade fairs GIFA, METEC and THERMPROCESS. Moreover, the new NEWCAST will not be confined to cast products but will now also for the first time feature forged and sintered parts at its NEWPART Innovation Park.

Explaining the new shorter cycle and extended exhibit portfolio for NEWCAST Joachim Schäfer, General Manager at Messe Düsseldorf, said: “Innovations are required and implemented at relatively “short notice” in this sector. All parties involved are therefore subject to an enormous pressure to innovate. Buyers must constantly keep abreast of the latest developments so as to stand their ground against global competition.”

The next NEWCAST including the new NEWPART Innovation Park for forged and sintered parts will run in Düsseldorf from 23 to 25 June 2009. The trade fair will be accompanied by the 4th NEWCAST Forum as well as by an extensive programme of supporting seminars and congresses. Furthermore, the Metals Plaza has now been incorporated into the Innovation Park to offer all steel and metal producers, NF-metal mills, traders and logistics providers a relevant platform.

As part of NEWCAST 2009 the International NEWCAST Award – celebrating its premiere in 2007 – will also be presented again for particularly innovative castings.
